Sara and I are very pleased to let everyone in the Family group know
about new book, Woman-Centered Care in Pregnancy and Childbirth, from
Radcliffe Publishing 2010. The book has a strong focus on women
within the context of their life cycle, their family context, and
their culture. We have a chapter addressing partners including
lesbian partners, and also take on the issues of abuse as they affect
women in the course of pregnancy and birth. Lots of familiar STFM
people have authored chapters: (Joan Bedinghaus, Marty Carlough,
Kathy Culhane-Pera, Colleen Fogarty, Cathy Kamens, Rick Long, Cathy
Morrow, Betsy Naumburg, Nancy Newman, Deb Rothenberg, Joe Stenger,
among others). Michael Klein, a family figure at Amelia Island, has
written a very strong chapter addressing how we need to examine the
"evidence" in evidence based maternity care. For details about the
